Sony refuses to confirm DriveClub 2014 release

Sony Worldwide Studios America development boss Scott Rohde has refused to confirm a DriveClub release in 2014.

The racer was initially set to launch alongside the PlayStation 4 last year, but it was delayed so that Evolution Studios could build a better game.

It was recently rumoured that DriveClub had been rescheduled for an April release, but when asked by IGN whether DriveClub would launch this year Rohde said, "We're not announcing any specifics on [a date] yet."

A Sony PR then stepped in to say that more details would be coming soon.

Rodhe claimed that nobody wanted to release DriveClub before it was ready.

"And sometimes, this happens in the normal course of business, where we think we're on track to deliver what we think is going to be a great game, and when we get closer, we realise that we'd be doing everyone a disservice if we shipped it before it was ready," he claimed.

"So, I think that at PlayStation, perhaps more than at other places, we're willing to kind of eat that [cost] and go back to the drawing board and make sure the game is great before we ship it. And that's what's going on right now with that game."
