Playstation "Orbis" URL disappears

News that made the rounds a few weeks ago of a new PlayStation console codenamed "Orbis" may have all been rumour as Sony's official URL has now been removed.

The story, in a nutshell, claimed gamers could expect to see Sony's next console offering sometime in 2013/14 and with the URL registration, it seemed a valid claim. The site, before being taken down, looked as if it were a PS3 developer site.

It could be, that with E3 just around the corner, Sony are pulling another stunt of some description, but it's unlikely.

Sony has said before it will release consoles in ten-year cycles, but with the competition from Microsoft and more information coming from Valve's internal projects we wouldn't be surprised if that wasn't the case anymore.
