Amazon reveals Fire TV, can stream games
Amazon has finally revealed Amazon Fire TV, an Android set-top box that streams games, movies, TV shows and music.
Fire TV is out now in the US and it promises to offer "high-performance gaming", with a Qualcomm Quad Core Snapdragon Krait 300 processor, Adreno 320 GPU and 2GB of RAM.
Games confirmed for Fire TV include Asphalt 8, NBA 2K14 and an exclusive version of Minecraft, with EA, Disney, Ubisoft and 2K all said to be supporting the device.
Fire TV is priced at $99 USD and a wireless controller can be purchased separately for $39.99 USD, but some games will be playable using the supplied remote.
The announcement of Fire TV follows speculation that Amazon was set to enter the games market, following the company's acquisition of Killer Instinct studio Double Helix last month.
A release date and price for regions other than the US is yet to be announced.
