Facebook creator tried PS4 VR before buying Oculus

Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg tested out Sony's PlayStation 4 virtual reality headset Project Morpheus a week before buying Oculus VR for $2billion USD.

That's according to PlayStation marketing executive Guy Longworth, who revealed the details during a talk at the Games Marketing Summit 2014.

"I wish he bought ours," joked Longworth [via GameSpot]. "All the folks at Oculus have got big smiles on today," he said in reference to the news that Facebook's Oculus purchase had just been cleared by the US Department of Justice and FTC.

However Longworth believes virtual reality is going to encounter huge growth in the future and Sony is still very excited about Project Morpheus.

"If you think about VR, not just in terms of gaming, I think wearable technology is a huge trend that's going to continue.

"I think that being able to have experiences that are truly deep and immersive... that it somehow makes you feel you are there... is something that people want.

"If you could really deliver that in the future, that would be huge."
