Defiance goes free-to-play in the summer
Sci-fi massively multiplayer online game Defiance is going free-to-play this summer, according to developer Trion Worlds.
The title has been available for £34.99 GBP for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 since last year, but soon players won't have to pay anything to try it out.
"Free is better!" Trion claimed. "As we head toward Season 2 of the Defiance television show, we expect that many new fans will want to join the world of Defiance, and having a system that allows them to experience the Defiance universe for free is good for everyone."
The PC version is set to go free-to-play from 4 June, PS3 from 15 July and Trion is working with Microsoft to plan a date for the Xbox 360.
Players who have already paid to own a digital or retail copy of Defiance will get a 30-day Paradise Patron Pass and 1000 Arkforge per account, as well as additional character slots, loadouts, ark keycode capacity and inventory slots.
