Destiny beta coming in July

Bungie will be releasing a Destiny beta "sometime in July", the studio revealed on Twitter.

Destiny is set to be one of this year's biggest titles, as the creators of Halo are turning their hands to a shared-world shooter experience with RPG elements.

It has a release date of 9 September for PS4, PS3, Xbox One and Xbox 360, but now players won't have to wait quite so long to play an unfinished version of the game.

"You'll find out exactly when you can play during E3," wrote Bungie.

Pre-order customers are promised access to the beta, while PlayStation platforms will be the first to have it.

Activision's Eric Hirshberg also revealed overnight that "pre-orders for the game remain on a record pace for new IP".
