PS4 system update available now
Sony has confirmed that a system update for the PlayStation 4 is now available to download.
Update 1.71 will be a relatively minor one designed to improve software stability of certain features instead of adding any huge changes.
The issues allegedly appeared after update 1.70 was introduced, bringing some problems to automatic gameplay capture and the DualShock 4's vibration functionality.
It isn't clear whether the new update will fully rectify the problems, but Sony is reminding PS4 users to activate their automatic downloads to get the update as soon as it's available.
One of the updates players will notice, however, is that Party Chat now allows you to invite up to 16 players, as opposed to eight. You can't chat with all 16 at the same time, but this does indicate Sony is moving in a more 'social' direction.
However, issues surrounding some bluetooth peripherals still haven't been resolved, namely gaming chairs of the X-Rocker range. We've contacte Sony about this and will come back in due course.
The PS4 has seen many updates since its launch last year, adding a host of new features such as the ability to use ShareFactory to edit and upload videos to social networks.
Expect Sony to announce details of new improvements coming to the PS4 during E3 next week.
