Wii U details revealed at E3
Nintendo has announced details for the new Wii U console.
The Wii U system will include a controller, called the Wii U Gamepad, with a 6.2-inch screen which will give players a multitude of new gaming experiences.
In single-player and multiplayer games the new controller can display information on its screen that does not appear on the TV, leading to a whole new experience.
In addition to the new screen, the Gamepad will also feature an accelerometer and a gyroscope, a rumble feature, an inward-facing camera, a microphone and speakers.
Each Wii U console will be partnered with a new Gamepad and can also use up to four additional Wii Remote or Wii Remote Plus controllers. The system will be backwards compatible, allowing it to play all Wii games and use all Wii accessories.
The Gamepad will also feature an internet browser that can be transferred to your TV and it will be able to work as a television remote.
President of Nintendo, Satoru Iwata, said: “The experience enabled by Wii U and the new controller takes players deeper into their games, while reaching out wider than ever before to be inviting to all kinds of gamers.”
A massive line-up of games for the Wii U was announced by Nintendo, including new games in the Super Mario Bros., Wii Fit, Batman: Arkham City and Just Dance franchises.
The Wii U is set to be available before the end of the year.
