Microsoft readying for major job cuts - report
Microsoft is getting ready for "its biggest round of job cuts in five years", according to a report from Bloomberg.
It could even be the most extensive "in Microsoft history", impacting thousands of staff across the world, including the Xbox team.
The other cuts may be for the engineering teams, Nokia and "divisions of Microsoft that overlap with that business".
Last week new Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said the company was committed to Xbox.
"Microsoft will continue to vigorously innovate and delight gamers with Xbox," he claimed.
"Xbox is one of the most-revered consumer brands, with a growing online community and service, and a raving fan base... Bottom line, we will continue to innovate and grow our fan base with Xbox while also creating additive business values for Microsoft."
