Borderlands 3 will happen - unless world ends
Borderlands 3 will definitely be happening in the future, unless the world ends first.
Gearbox developer Sean Reardon has attempted to ease the fears of fans that worry Borderlands 3 won't ever arrive, but he isn't ruling out planet-destroying asteroids.
"Borderlands 3 will happen," he told Game Informer. "Well, I mean, asteroids could hit... [but] Gearbox is not leaving Borderlands behind in any sense of the word."
For now Gearbox is working on new IP Battleborn, while earlier this month studio boss Randy Pitchford said the idea of Borderlands 3 "scared" him.
However everyone will be "excited" to get back to Borderlands in the future, adds Reardon, and the potential for a better game will be higher than ever.
"Everybody will be very excited. We'll be very excited and we'll have learned things through Battleborn and all the other games that come out between here and then.
"That studio will be all the better. We'll have better ingredients; we'll have better people. All that stuff will exist."
For now Borderlands fans can count down the days to an October launch of Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, a last-gen release heading to Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
