God of War: Ascension gets release date and mulitplayer mode

The new title in the God of War franchise has been given a release date along with some gameplay announcements.

This is said to be the last instalment in the series and the PS3 exclusive is set to be available from 13 March next year.

A multiplayer mode is also included in what will be a first for a God of War title. Players will take control of Greek mythological heroes as they fight to survive against re-spawning enemies on various maps.

Players will be assigned to different teams, with the winning team accumulating the highest number of points from defeating enemies.

The single player mode will follow Kratos’ journey as he aims to redeem himself from his past sins and the rise of his rage to break free from Ares’ bond.

Enhanced gameplay features include a tweaked combat system which will allow players to throw enemies around while maintaining blade attacks at the same time.

Another facet of the game will be the new world weapon system, which will enable Kratos to steal enemy weapons to use against them.

Kratos will also have the power of controlling the flow of time on various objects, allowing him to solve puzzles and freeze enemies during combat.
