Some features in Forza Horizon 2 are only made possible due to the power of the Xbox One, according to creative director Ralph Fulton.

The sequel to 2012's hit racing title will be arriving on both the Xbox One and the Xbox 360, but there'll be some key differences between the two versions.

That's because certain features can only be implemented by using the technology of new-gen, says Fulton.

"It's fair to say there will be, there're certain features we're doing on the Xbox One version which are really only possible on Xbox One," he told ArabicGamers when asked if there would be differences between the two games.

"We've built our dynamic weather system in a very sophisticated next-gen way. It looks amazing, it's constantly changing the visuals of the game, it's changing the driving experience of the game. It's a great addition.

Fulton also pointed to Drivatars, introduced in last year's Forza Motorsport 5, as a crucial feature.

"Also Drivatars, which were in Forza 5, it's a cloud-based system, it uses the dedicated servers that are a key part of Xbox One's make-up. Again, it will only be available in the Xbox One version of Forza Horizon 2."

However both versions will be able to offer players the freedom of the open-world, which happens to be Fulton's favourite part of Forza Horizon 2.

"My favourite thing about the game is the freedom, I never expected it would be so much fun to just abandon roads entirely and take a car cross-country.

"There's a real thrill, particularly if you're driving at night with only your headlights to light the way, there's a real thrill trying to thread your way through a forest without impaling yourself on a tree. But I try it more often than not!"

Forza Horizon 2 launches 30 September and we'll be bringing you much more coverage, including a video interview and a preview, over the coming weeks.
