Remedy games have “foundation in pop culture”
Remedy Entertainment’s Sam Lake, one of the games industry’s highest regarded creative minds, has told ArabicGamers that Quantum Break has its foundations in pop culture.
In an interview, Lake said that the latest project from one of the world’s most innovative developers was like any other Remedy game in that it had its foundation in pop culture.
“Quantum Break inspiration, obviously drawing from pop culture, again, as with Remedy games always, kind of things that excite us and with Max Payne we did hard boiled crime story, with Alan Wake it was a supernatural thriller, but always the foundation, as with Quantum Break as well, it’s present day real world. Now we’re just adding a layer of Sci-Fi onto it.”
But it’s not just all about the pop culture element, Lake explains. He also says that it’s about taking “something big and visually and atmospherically really, really impressive and something that hasn’t been seen before and give our own unique twist on it.”
And Quantum Break, like the games before it, does exactly that from what we’ve seen.
What Quantum Break does, based on the snippets we've been privvy to, exactly what we’d expect from a Remedy title. It’s narrative is strong, the protagonist isn’t a wishy-washy character and the environment looks incredible.
We’ll have more later in the week from this interview, one of our most anticipated titles for the new generations of consoles.
Quantum Break is due to release in 2015.
