The Crew offers more than Forza Horizon and Driveclub, says dev

Upcoming racer The Crew offers more for players than rivals Forza Horizon 2 and Driveclub, according to creative director Julian Gerighty.

The Crew suffered a lengthy delay earlier this year when it was pushed back to November, meaning it launches after both of its main competitors.

However Gerighty isn't fazed by the new release window as he believes The Crew brings something more to the table.

"I love our competitors," he told ArabicGamers. "We mentioned Forza Horizon and Driveclub, but those games are very different from what we're offering.

"The Crew, keep in mind, is the whole of the USA, and it's not just the roads. It's the off-road and it's the vehicles to be able to adventure everywhere you want, so there's real off-road racing."

He went on to detail the action driving that The Crew will offer players, meaning it's not just about finishing first in a race.

"They [Forza and Driveclub] don't really have the off-road rally style driving that we have. They don't really have the raid style driving, they don't really have the police chases, they don't really have takedowns.

"All of the action driving things that we have and that are fundamentally part of our DNA, that's what we represent."

Gerighty added that the wide range of backdrops and locations also set The Crew apart from the rest of the field.

"I think we've got a very big and varied game. If there's any game coming out with cars or otherwise that has cities, marshes, beaches and snow-capped mountains in a seamless world that you can go to with no loading, tell me about it because I haven't seen anybody out there.

"I'm not being cocky, but we've got a very different game from the others."
