Destiny 2 already in the works

Bungie is already hard at work on a sequel to Destiny, according to Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg.

Hirshberg was speaking on an earnings call to investers overnight when he revealed that new expansions for Destiny are in the works, as is a full-game release.

"Work has also begun on future expansion packs as well as on our next full-game release," he claimed.

"We're very pleased with the launch and continuing engagement, and we'll update you on our progress on future calls."

That player engagement includes over 9.5 million registered users, with players averaging over three hours of gameplay a day.

Hirshberg is incredibly proud of what Destiny has achieved so far, and he only has high hopes for the future.

"I think by any measure, Destiny is off to a great start," he added. "As I mentioned, we were the largest new franchise launch of all time. And despite the large investment, or maybe because of that large investment, we were able to be profitable from day one, and we think it's only a matter of time now before it becomes our next billion-dollar franchise.

"I also mentioned that we are also already underway on our next full-game releases. So we've got a great pipeline of content, a great plan, a great development partner with Bungie, and we're very bullish on Destiny."
