Sony to focus on PS4 sales
Sony has revealed a three year business plan which will focus on streamlining its TV and smartphone products and focus more on the PS4 to help sales figures.
In the last decade Sony has found it hard to compete on all fronts of its business and this is the latest exercise in cutting production costs to keep the business as profitable as possible in times of financial uncertainty.
Japan is currently experiencing another dip depression in the economy and giant corporations are at the forefront of economic recovery.
The announcement was made earlier this week and the main strategy was to expand and hold on to PlayStation users offering them more networked services such as TV and game streaming. By increasing smaller amounts of revenue per user through PS Plus and offering higher value content for subscribers, Sony hopes it will have a wider impact on the business as a whole.
Sony has a whole host of entertainment services it could be offering its subscribers (the only subscription model for Sony is that of PS Plus), and by giving subscribers access to Sony Pictures, Sony Music as well as the Sony games division, Sony could certainly make a financial impact, as well as securing its place in the current gen war.
Sony will stop chasing the market share for TVs and smartphones, it will now focus primarily on its existing user-base.
