Metal Gear Online to be revealed next week
The new Metal Gear Online game will be shown to the world at next week’s Game Awards, according to presenter Geoff Keighley.
Keighley had tweeted that Hideo Kojima would be starring at the awards which is scheduled for 5 December, and that he would be premiering Metal Gear Online.
Metal Gear Online has been very highly anticipated and has been in the pipeline for some time, morphing and changing from MGS 3 to MGS 4 and will allow up to 16 players to engage in firefights.
There are RPG elements too, which we’d seen before from the previous iterations before servers closed down in June 2012, most notably the character customisation and the skill upgrades.
It’s no surprise, however, this was coming as Kojima told CVG he was working on the game in LA at E3 this year.
There were some concerns with the size of the game and the fact that there wouldn’t be enough stealth elements in an open world for a game like MGS.
“Getting used to it as a case of simulating how you want to infiltrate a base. You're given a mission and in order to execute this mission you need to plan, strategise and execute. There are many ways to do this; all the freedom is up to you and there are no rules lined out like the linear games in the past.”
