Borderlands 3 won’t release on last gen consoles

In a financial call with parent company Take-Two, 2K confirmed the next instalment of Borderlands will come only to the new generation of consoles.

2K president Karl Slatoff said the game would be "built specifically for next-gen consoles”.

Slatoff went on to say there were new IPs in the pipeline as well as well established games, such as Borderlands.

“Looking further ahead, we have robust long-term pipeline of titles in development, including ground-breaking new intellectual properties and new releases from our proven franchises,” he said.

But are Gearbox and 2K missing a trick? Although Borderlands: The Pre Sequel did feel a little tired on the last generation of consoles, it didn’t quite have the feel of its predecessor and maybe with the injection of new tech wizardry we could be in for quite a treat.

No release date or schedule was mentioned, so we’ll keep you posted as and when we get more information.
