Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst confirmed
After reports last week, EA and DICE have confirmed the latest in the Mirror’s Edge series, Catalyst, will be coming to consoles and PC 26 February 2016.
According to the press release, this will be Faith’s origins story, and the rise from a “careless young woman to a heroine who opens the eyes of an entire city”.
You can expect to see the highly successful fluid-like free-running mechanic where vertical exploration is encouraged. All of this in the first person view. All of which can be combined with combat!
“When we set out to bring Mirror’s Edge to a new generation of gamers, we knew we wanted to deliver on the potential of the first game – building an iconic heroine in Faith, bringing a beautiful, stylised world to life, and delivering fluid first person action,” says Sara Jansson, Senior Producer at DICE. “In Mirror’s Edge Catalyst, you will get to feel what it’s like to glide across the skyline of the city. You will get to know what it feels like to be a projectile who plows through your opponents. And you will get to experience Faith’s story.”
For those that remember the first and second game, DICE are promising this will be more in line with the original game, rather than Mirror’s Edge 2 which came as a bit of a disappointment.
Pre-orders will be available too, with either a Combat Runner Kit or a Speed Runner Kit version available. Both will come with unique in game items, the latter being more focused on the speed of the player’s skill. We’ll have more information on that as it comes.
But, instead of going on about it, why not just check out the trailer.
