3DS XL to launch next month
Nintendo announced the release of the 3DS XL earlier today.
The new handheld is due out in Europe 28 July and is a bigger and heavier version of the 3DS.
It features a 4.88-inch top screen and 4.18-inch lower touch screen, making the top screen 90% larger than the 3DS version and the largest ever on a Nintendo handheld.
The 3DS XL has a much larger battery life compared to its predecessor, said to run between 3.5-6.5 hours when playing 3DS games and 6-10 hours for DS titles.
The console will come with a 4GB SD memory card, double the size of the 2GB card that came with the 3DS.
There were rumours that the handheld will come with a second circle pad however these turned out to be false.
The 3DS XL will not ship with an AC adapter, meaning you’ll have to buy separately or use the one that came with your 3DS, DSi or DS XL.
The handheld will be available in red, blue and silver.
Three games have been announced for launch, Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, Theatrhythm Final Fantasy and New Art Academy.
