Investigations into burning PS Vita units

The Japanese government is investigating reports of PlayStation Vita units burning up.

Sony has confirmed 31 cases of the handheld overheating: 23 of the incidents happened in Japan while eight took place in the UK, US and Australia. There have been no reports of injury.

Sony claims the overheating is due to “people having liquids or other objects inserted in the connection” instead of a hardware malfunction.

Players with burnt out PS Vitas or chargers will have to pay to get them fixed as Sony will not be offering refunds.
