EA: Digital media overtaking boxed products
EA will make more money from digital media than traditional boxed sales in the next few years, according to COO Peter Moore.
Moore told Reuters that revenue from digital sales is starting to rival physical media.
He said: "There will come a point, whether it is two or three years from now, when we say, 'We are doing more in digital media now than we are in physical media' and it's clearly not far away.
"This fiscal year we have 41 social mobile and free-to-play games on the slate, and later in the year we might make announcements about more games coming."
EA announced a 55% increase in digital revenue over the past year. It expects to make $1.7billion USD from digital sales for the fiscal year ending March 2013 and $2.6billion USD from physical goods.
Moore added: "Investors are starting to understand our strategy, are starting to see light at the end of the tunnel, starting to see growth rates in the areas we have invested in and the industry as a whole is starting to attract attention again."
