Nintendo will continue to support Wii after Wii U
Nintendo will continue supporting the Wii long after the release of the Wii U.
The Wii U launch date was announced yesterday during a Nintendo Direct conference.
Following the conference Nintendo of America president, Reggie Fils-Aime, spoke to investors about the future of the Wii.
Fils-Aime said: "I'm responsible for Canada, and Latin America as well.
"We think there's opportunity in both of those markets, especially Latin America. You can reach price points, you can reach consumers that, candidly, we won't be able to reach with the Wii U. That's going to continue to be an opportunity."
Fils-Aime confirmed the Wii would be sold alongside the Wii U in the near future.
He added: "We do believe there's still opportunity for the Wii, and we will continue to sell the Wii side-by-side for some period of time."
