THQ IP to be auctioned off title by title
A major auction will take place later this month to decide which publishers take control of bankrupt THQ's IP.
Several parties were unhappy with THQ's attempt to make a quick sale to Clearwater Capital for $60million USD, leading to bankruptcy judge Mary Walrath ruling against the move.
This has opened the door for other publishers to bid on THQ IP, with Distressed Debt reporting that an auction on 22 January will now take place for individual titles.
Seperate THQ studios will also be up for auction, with EA, Warner Bros. and Ubisoft reported to be interested.
The IP up for grabs includes WWE, Company of Heroes, Saints Row and Dawn of War among others.
THQ was set to release a South Park RPG, Metro: Last Light and a new Saints Row game this year, meaning that any publisher who picks these up would likely see significant returns due to most development costs already being handled.
