New Metal Gear Online being planned
A new Metal Gear Online is in the works alongside Metal Gear Solid 5, according to series creator Hideo Kojima.
Metal Gear Online is a multiplayer offering, with the first one launching alongside Metal Gear Solid 4 back in 2008.
The original Metal Gear Online has since been taken offline, but Kojima has revealed that a new one is being planned.
"Yes, we plan on creating Metal Gear Online," he told CVG. "Multiplayer right now is being created at our LA studio as well as us.
"We're working closely to create a vast multiplayer for all the fans."
Kojima added that there would be a "big surprise" for players in upcoming Metal Gear Solid 5.
"Specifically for the next-gen and Metal Gear Solid 5, it's not necessarily about breaking the fourth wall, but we do have a big surprise for the players in this game.
"We have challenged and pushed ourselves with something that movies can't do but only games can do. It hasn't been done before."
