New Xbox Live rewards coming in September

Microsoft will be revealing a new Xbox Live rewards scheme this September.

The current system grants players a small number of Microsoft Points for unlocking Achievements in games.

That'll all change in a few months though, as Microsoft is looking to reward players differently.

"With all these changes, it's become necessary for us to evolve the way we reward you," said Microsoft.

"Starting 1 August 2013, you will not be able to earn Microsoft Points through Xbox Live Rewards any longer.

"Not to worry, though! Since this currency change is impacting the structure of the program, we're taking the opportunity to make Xbox Live Rewards even better."

The full details will be revealed 1 September.

Yesterday it was reported that Microsoft changing the Xbox Live Store to real-world currency instead of Points actually increased the prices of items.

Microsoft has since insisted that this was "an unintended error" and those affected would be reimbursed.
