Borderlands 3 not in development yet
Gearbox isn't working on Borderlands 3 yet, according to studio boss Randy Pitchford.
Borderlands 2 was a smash hit with figures showing that more people were playing it a year after release than when it launched.
A third outing for the Vault Hunters would be eagerly anticipated, especially with the power of the new consoles, but Pitchford said it'll be a while before anything comes out.
"We are not developing that right now," he told Polygon. "We don't know what that is yet.
"We can imagine what it must achieve, but we don't know what it is."
"We know we want it and we know it should exist, but we don't know what it is yet. But we are doing things in Borderlands that we'll announce soon, that are good, and that I think people will be really excited about if you love the franchise."
One thing that Borderlands fans can look forward to is the already announced collaboration with The Walking Dead developer Telltale Games.
"It's been a lot of fun working with those guys," added Pitchford. "I think they're better storytellers than we are, frankly."
