Forza and PGR share same philosophy, claims Horizon dev
Forza Horizon 2 and Project Gotham Racing share the same racing philosophy, according to Playground Games creative director Ralph Fulton.
The Project Gotham series was famous for introducing a Kudos system, which rewarded players for driving stylishly instead of just winning races.
Horizon 2 adopts a similar skill system mechanic where players get points for drifting or near-misses, and Fulton said there's no shame in being influenced by PGR.
"We're huge fans of the PGR series," he told ArabicGamers. "I know a lot of people are.
"Some of our staff actually made those games back in the day. We love the things PGR stood for.
"I think Horizon shares a philosophy with those games in that style is as important as winning. I love that our skill system reflects that mechanic, the Kudos system that they had in those games.
"I think a lot of people see that, I don't think there's any shame in recognising that because it's a great system, it's a great mechanic and it serves the same purpose in our game."
Forza Horizon 2 is launching on the Xbox One and Xbox 360 later this month. Fulton has previously told us there are some features that could only be added to the Xbox One version.
