Steam Greenlight introduces submission fee
Valve has introduced a $100 USD submission fee for developers who want to list their games on Steam Greenlight.
Valve claimed the one-time fee was to "cut down the noise in the system", while all proceeds will be donated to charity.
After paying the fee, developers will be able to post and update as many games as they want.
Steam Greenlight launched last week and has since been flooded with users submitting inappropriate content.
A statement on the official Steam Greenlight blog said: "Two things we've noticed so far. First, there are a ton of legitimate submissions that people want to see. Second, there is unfortunately a significant amount of noise and clutter being submitted, either as a joke or by fans not fully understanding the purpose of Greenlight."
Valve has also updated the Steam Community section. Created content is featured more effectively on profiles while users can now search friend activity and post status updates.
