Activision releasing fewer games based on licenses in 2013
Activision is expecting to release fewer games based on licensed properties this year.
The publisher holds a large array of licenses for well-known properties such as Spider-Man, Transformers and Family Guy.
However the company is planning to release fewer games like these in response to different 'market opportunities'.
"In 2013, we expect to release fewer games based on license properties and as a result are realigning our structure to better reflect the market opportunities and our slate," read an Activision statement sent to Kotaku.
This doesn't affect the recently acquired Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles license, with the first game in that series set for release in the summer.
Activision will also have its hands full with the likes of Call of Duty and Skylanders, which continue to sell well.
Destiny, published by Activision and developed by Halo creator Bungie, was also revealed earlier this week, although that's not coming in 2013.
