Assassin's Creed movie close to having a director

The Assassin's Creed movie is close to having a director, with Justin Kurzel being the man Ubisoft wants to head up its project.

Deadline reports that Kurzel - currently directing a film adaptation of William Shakespeare's Macbeth - is first choice for the role, but nothing has been signed yet.

Interestingly the lead role in Macbeth is being played by Michael Fassbender, who is also confirmed to be starring in and co-producing the Assassin's Creed film.

There're no details on which assassin Fassbender will play or indeed what time period the movie will take place in, but the film is scheduled to release August 2015.

Going back to games, Assassin's Creed Unity is coming to Xbox One, PS4 and PC this year, while there are also rumours of a last-gen version called Comet.
