THQ has announced the development of four new titles across its studios.

THQ president, Jason Rubin, said the new projects had been commissioned in the last 60 days.

Rubin told investors that the company was working hard on new titles to make THQ successful.

He said: “THQ has talented studios, strong intellectual property, and is now nimble enough to navigate the complexities and take advantage of a marketplace in transition.

“Beyond our announced titles, in the last 60 days all four of our internal studios began working on new titles that represent the type of product that we believe will make THQ successful in the future.”

The four studios with new projects are Relic Entertainment, Vigil Games, Volition and THQ Montreal Studio.

It’s likely the new games will be developed for the next-generation consoles.

Rubin also explained the reasons to scrap Saints Row: The Third DLC in favour of creating a fully-fledged sequel.

He added: “My immediate focus is to take advantage of opportunities to strengthen our current product pipeline.

“With meeting Volition, for example, I found that the in-progress Saints Row: The Third – Enter the Dominatrix expansion pack was an incredible amount of fun to play. I had so much fun playing and experimenting that we rethought the opportunity and decided to turn the expansion into a full sequel and move the release to calendar ’13 and incorporate the assets into a full-sized broader game.”

THQ has been cost-cutting in recent months, earlier it was confirmed that next-generation trilogy Insane had been cancelled.
